A disciplina analisa o Direito como fenômeno social, inserido em processos históricos, culturais e econômicos. Discute teorias clássicas e contemporâneas da Sociologia para compreender a relação entre Direito, poder, regulação e transformação social. Aborda o papel das normas jurídicas, instituições e agentes na construção e contestação das estruturas sociais. Os temas incluem o Direito na Teoria Sociológica clássica e contemporânea, Direito e controle penal, judicialização da política e os impactos e desafios colocados ao Direito na sociedade do risco e diante da revolução informacional. O contexto brasileiro é analisado com ênfase nas carreiras jurídicas, reformas do Poder Judiciário e acesso à Justiça, bem como os desafios colocados às instituições judiciais diante das novas ameaças à ordem democrática.
Investigação histórico crítica do papel do Estado nos sistemas de proteção social na sociedade capitalista. O debate sobre política social e proteção social. As propostas de estados de bem-estar social e da ideologia do neoliberalismo para a proteção social. As concepções de política social e de política pública. O consenso de Washington e sua proposta para o papel do Estado e da proteção social na sociedade capitalista. O debate sobre a categoria direitos sociais e a constituição da Seguridade Social, com ênfase no Brasil.

EMENTA: Introdução a Teorias da Justiça e à Filosofia Social e Política, explorando e aprofundando problemas e conceitos-chave da Teoria Política, Teoria Crítica e Epistemologia Social Feminista. Leitura de textos seletos de autoras e autores contemporâneos, tais como Theodor W. Adorno, Seyla Benhabib, Nancy Fraser, Judith Butler, Linda Alcoff, Sandra Harding, Lorraine Code, Helen Longino, Elizabeth Anderson, Miranda Fricker e Jose Medina. Neste seminário, que dá continuidade a nossas investigações e discussões em teoria crítica, filosofia política, epistemologia analítica e feminismo, devemos explorar temas atuais e relevantes tais como são abordados em obras seminais da epistemologia analítica feminista.
